I’m Warwick, Founder, Owner and Principal Consultant at SQL Masters Consulting, and I’ve spent nearly 30 years working in the IT industry across Australia, New Zealand, India, Singapore, the UK and the USA. Since starting my journey with SQL Server 6.5, I’ve built deep hand-on expertise across the Microsoft data platform and have become one of Australia’s leading SQL Server consultants.
My approach is simple: understand the problem, find the right solution, and deliver results that work in the real world. I’m passionate about SQL Server and equally passionate about sharing knowledge with the wider IT community. Since 2015, I’ve run the annual Brisbane SQL Saturday/Data Saturday event, bringing together IT professionals and industry experts from around the world.
I’ve presented at numerous local, interstate and international user groups, SQL Saturday / Data Saturday events as well as Microsoft TechED/Ignite, Microsoft Fabcon/SQLCon and SQL Bits. Along with my presentations, I have published articles on SQL Server Always On Availability Groups through Simple Talk.

Hamish Watson is a Microsoft MVP specialising in data platforms, database DevOps and cloud technologies. He works across SQL Server, PostgreSQL and Oracle, helping organisations modernise how they develop, deploy and operate their database platforms.
With a strong background in database engineering, Hamish focuses on bringing modern software engineering practices to the data platform, including source control, automated testing, CI/CD, infrastructure as code and repeatable database deployments. His experience spans on-premises, hybrid and cloud environments, with particular expertise in Microsoft Azure, database modernisation and migration, and building automated delivery practices around complex data platforms.
Hamish is also an experienced international speaker and community contributor, known for taking practical DevOps and cloud concepts and applying them to the realities of enterprise database environments.
